The Harz Museum in Wernigerode is not just a museum about the history of the township of Wernigerode. Alongside exhibits about half-timbered housing, craftsmanship, minerals, geology and mining you will find a great number of exhibits about the plants and animals that live here in Harz.
An additional area displays paintings and drawings by artists of the Wernigerode artists' colony as well as other artists from the Harz area.
Rotating special exhibitions draw on themes from the town of Wernigerode and the Harz mountains.

The Harz Museum offers guided tours, presentations and excursions on different themes and topics. You can find information about project weeks for schools in the museum's program.
Environmental projects as part of the "Green Classroom" in the Bürgerpark (public gardens).
The Harz Museum is not accessible to wheel chairs. The external areas have many steps and inside there is also a staircase.
